University of Huddersfield Creative Excellence Competition

The University of Huddersfield is the only university in Yorkshire and the Humber and the North West to have been awarded an outstanding Gold rating, the highest accolade attainable, in all three aspects of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). In honour of this achievement, we want to showcase and celebrate the diversity of creative excellence emerging from schools and colleges across the UK.
The competition is split into four categories: Text, Image/Object, Moving Image and Sound. We will welcome submissions from:
• Graphic Design, Illustration and Animation
• Fashion and Textile design
• Film and Drama
• Fine Art & Photography
• English and History
• Media and Journalism
• Music and Music Technology
• Product Design
• Architectural and Interior Design
• Construction and the Built Environment.
The competition is open to all Year 12 and Year 13 students who wish to take part. Submission of coursework is acceptable and all applicants will have the opportunity to talk to our highly experienced staff and benefit from their expertise and enthusiasm.
Deadline for submissions is Monday 8th April 2024.
What we want to see is your creativity and in return we can offer expert help, advice and cash prizes.
Text
Submission to this category includes any piece of creative or academic writing suitable for display/exhibition. For example, it can be a research poster on your favourite historical period, a piece of creative writing or journalistic article.
• File formats accepted: Microsoft word or PDF.
• Maximum file size: 100MB.
Image/Object
The broadest category, the submission can be any type of image. It includes fashion design concepts, typographic or logo designs, graphic novel or computer game character development. It can be photography, digital or handmade artworks. You can also submit photographs of your artworks, sculptural pieces or 3D designs.
• File formats accepted: JPEG, TIFF, PDF.
• Maximum file size: 100MB.
Moving image
This category encompasses anything that requires moving images. This could include animation, a short film, a music video or a drama performance.
• File formats accepted: MP4, Mov.
• Maximum duration: 3 mins.
• Maximum file size: 100MB.
