Cycling to Campus
Here at the University of Huddersfield we are working hard to improve the facilities we provide to cyclists, helping our staff, students and visitors to build cycling into their daily routine. Incorporating cycling into your commute, even just a couple of times a week has an array of benefits for both you and the environment, including:
- Improved health and fitness, including promoting weight loss, reduced risk of heart disease, as well as reduced levels of stress and improved wellbeing. According to Sustrans, cyclists generally take half as many sick days as their colleagues who commute by car or public transport.
- Leaving the car at home will save you money from parking, fuel, and other associated running costs.
- Cyclists often travel quicker than queuing traffic during peak times, reducing your commute time and congestion around the University.
- This sustainable method of transport reduces your carbon emissions, improving air quality locally, and reducing your impact on the environment.
