Team CyberTron, comprising final year students Clinton Opara, Umar Saeed, Ajay Alex Sajitha, and Kais Mahmood from the University of Huddersfield's School of Computing and Engineering, showcased their exceptional analytical skills and cyber security acumen, securing second place at the ISACA London Chapter's 2024 Cyber Security Case Study Competition.

Held at the prestigious QEII Centre in London, the competition provided a platform for teams to dissect and propose solutions for a real-world cyber security challenge involving Capita, a major UK-based outsourcing company.

The case study presented to the participants detailed a cyber incident at Capita, which involved unauthorised access to internal Microsoft Office 365 applications and exposed vulnerabilities within the company's cyber security and data management practices.

Team CyberTron's approach involved a comprehensive analysis of the Capita case, blending technical expertise with critical thinking to formulate strategic recommendations. Their presentation covered the incident's background, impact assessment, potential root causes, and a set of sustainable recommendations aimed at enhancing Capita's cyber security posture.

Clinton Opara, a member of Team CyberTron, expressed his pride in the team's journey, stating, "We are incredibly proud to say that our journey through the ISACA London Chapter's Cyber Security Case Study Competition has been a transformative experience, enriching us with invaluable insights and fostering a deeper passion for cyber security that we'll carry forward in our careers as alumni from the School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Huddersfield."

The competition was judged on various criteria, including the depth of analysis, innovation of recommendations, adherence to requirements, and presentation effectiveness. Team CyberTron's ability to address these aspects comprehensively earned them recognition and acclaim from the judging panel.

The team's journey to the finals commenced with an initial analysis submitted via an online Zoom call, followed by confirmation from ISACA London of their progression to the final round. The final presentation took place on February 28, 2024, marking the culmination of their efforts and dedication.

Participating in the competition proved to be an immensely rewarding experience for Team CyberTron, offering a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-world context, hone their analytical and presentation skills, and network with industry professionals.
