Professor John Siderov

Head of Optometry and Vision Sciences

Prepare to take your first steps to a rewarding and exciting career in optometry. We are the newest department in the School of Applied Sciences and have developed one of the UK’s newest optometry courses. Our Optometry MOptom is subject to approval by the General Optical Council (GOC) and is fully aligned with the new outcomes for optometry. We will give you the knowledge and skills required to complete the professional requirements of the GOC leading to a career as an optometrist. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop clinical skills in well-equipped pre-clinical laboratories and gain real-world experience examining and managing patients in your final year in our state-of-the-art University Eye Clinic. Upon satisfactory completion of the optometry degree and associated professional requirements, you will be ready to embark on the final stage of your journey, the pre-registration placement administered by the College of Optometrists.
