The scholarship is open to applicants engaged in research on any subject related to how education and educationalists engage with extremism and/or racism and racial conflict, and differential ethnic/racial experiences of education. Relevant topics might include but are not limited to:
The successful candidate’s primary affiliation will be within the Education, Extremism and ‘Race’ research node within SEPD’s Huddersfield Centre for Research in Education and Society (HudCRES). For more information about HudCRES’s research activity and our supervision of post-graduate research students, please see our HudCRES page.
HudCRES has internationally-recognised research expertise around how educators of all types implement anti-extremism preventative policies, teach about values and implement anti-racist education, understand and implement approaches to community cohesion and ethnic integration, and the educational experiences and attainment of specific ethnic and faith groups within society.
The successful candidate is normally required to be a resident in/near Huddersfield during the period of registration.
With over 87 students representing numerous fields of study and more than 10 nationalities, our postgraduate research student community is a vital, diverse and vibrant part of the School. HudCRES has an active programme of research lectures, events and seminars, some tailored specifically for PGR students. The University of Huddersfield is ranked in the top 350 institutions in the world for Education in the QS World University Subject Rankings. Huddersfield was ranked 29/83 in the Education ‘Research Power’ rankings and received 4* marks for its research environment.
