Trude’s inspiring talk was delivered at the Holocaust Memorial Day 2019 event held at the University of Huddersfield

Trude Silman was invited to speak at the Holocaust Memorial Day event #HMD2019, organised by the University of Huddersfield in conjunction with the 6million+ Charitable Trust, which also highlighted more recent atrocities around the world.  Titled ‘Torn From Home’, it was the latest Holocaust Memorial Day event to be held at the University, which is home to the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre for the North.  Trude Silman, born Gertrude Feldman, escaped from the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia aged 9 years old.  Here, aged 89, Trude talks about her childhood in Bratislava and the fate of her parents and close family as the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia in March 1939.
