New Undergraduate Pocket Prospectus
The University Marketing Team have been working hard to create a new style of Undergraduate prospectus which is produced sustainably, using less materials and cardboard.
The new 2025/26 Undergraduate prospectus is now available for prospective students, and their carers/influencers, to order or pick up at recruitment events. It follows the same innovative phone-sized format as the 2024/25 prospectus - a selection of cards and mini course booklet contained within a box.
At a time where student recruitment is increasingly competitive, and a two-year lockdown changed the face of outreach activities, many competitor universities are replacing their printed prospectuses with PDF downloads, or removing them as an option completely.
Sector insight into how students are accessing information, plus the Prospectus Project Leads’ own Masters’ Research into the preference between print and online prospectuses and the influence of sustainability on that choice, showed that there was a need to provide prospectus information both digitally and in print.
We created a digital-first, more sustainable and content-led undergraduate printed prospectus, which can be used as a standalone publication or as a companion to enhanced digital content on the University’s website.
The format was designed with material usage and sustainability in mind. The new ‘pocket’ format pack uses 292g of material versus 649g used in the former 176p book-style – 65% less material per item. Printing and distribution was carbon balanced – for this year’s print, the carbon emissions related to paper and printing are balanced with the World Land Trust through forest protection and restoration projects. Last year, the carbon emissions were offset through the Woodland Trust’s Government backed Woodland Carbon Scheme.
