The Great Get Together – 21 June 2024, 2.30-4.30pm
Did you know that 21-23 June 2024 is the national Great Get Together Weekend? In memory of Jo Cox, this is an opportunity for communities to reject division and celebrate Jo’s message that we have more in common than that which divides us. How better then to celebrate this by having our own UOH great get together in the Jo Cox More in Common Centre.
Open to all staff and students, the Great Get Together is an amazing opportunity to be part of something a little different on a Friday afternoon and celebrate unity within our University community.
Join us anytime between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Friday 21 June in the Jo Cox More in Common Centre. There will be a variety of activities on offer to bring staff and students from different backgrounds together, create opportunities for meaningful social connection and celebrate what we have in common. The event will be themed around the ‘5 ways to wellbeing’, including:
- Connect: Enjoy a cake, drink and conversation with someone new;
- Get active: Take part in a game of table tennis, or one of our mindfulness activities;
- Take notice: Join our guided wellbeing walk around the campus;
- Learn: Find out about seed planting and gardening tips with our Sustainability team;
- Give: If you can, support one of our two charities we will be promoting on the day, donate to the Jo Cox Foundation or bring a product for Colne Valley Help (baked beans, tinned meats, UHT milk, breakfast cereals, pasta, pasta sauce, toilet rolls, size 4 and 5 nappies, baby wipe or feminine hygiene products would be welcomed).
We’ve planned activities which are hopefully inclusive and accessible, but if there’s not something that takes your fancy why not just pop down to say hello, take in the lovely surroundings around the Jo Cox More in Common Centre and to connect with other members of our University community.
