University rises in QS Europe University Rankings 2025

The second edition of the QS Europe University Rankings is now out.

We are pleased to announce that the University of Huddersfield has been ranked 230th in Europe, jumping 16 places from last year’s 246th position. This increase follows last month’s QS World University Ranking rise of 66 places (501st position globally), and being named as the Most Improved University in the UK, ranked 49th among UK universities.

The key 3 areas of improvement which contributed to the overall score in this year’s rankings include “Sustainability” which ranked 99th, an increase of 196 places compared to last year, “International Faculty Ratio” which ranked 152nd, an increase of 10 places from last year, and “Citations per Paper” which has increased by 30 positions and is now ranked 254th.

Pro Vice-Chancellor International Professor Alistair Sambell commented “I am delighted to see the University of Huddersfield recognised amongst the leading Universities in Europe in these important international rankings. This high standing, and continued improvement, reflects the hard work of staff and students, the esteem in which the University is held with employers and the academic community, and the wider impact of the University’s work.”

Earlier this year, the University of Huddersfield was also named as one of the world’s top universities across thirteen different subjects with some subjects ranked as high as 20th (Music) and 32nd (Performing Arts) in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
