Tree Planting Sessions open to all University Staff

As the seasons are a changing and the nights are drawing in, nature is slowly winding down for the upcoming winter. This is the time when trees enter their dormant cycle and are alive but not actively growing, which means it’s a perfect time to plant them.             

As part of the University’s Sustainability and Carbon Neutral Strategy, we are working in partnership with White Rose Forest and Kirklees Council to plant a tree for every new student.

You may have seen marketing’s new advertisement - 'a forest of freshers', which has recently been launched promoting the sessions.

Two sites have been allocated in Kirklees to be reforested over 13 half day sessions, running on Wednesday afternoons (1-4pm) during November 2023, February 2024 and March 2024. All transport, equipment and a refreshment will be included.

Now this opportunity is open to all Staff at the University to get involved and plant a tree!

The sessions are an excellent opportunity to have a hands-on experience to help fight climate change and giving something back to the local community.

The experience is also an ideal team building activity, to develop coordination and communication skills whilst working together on a collaborative task. If you would like to book your team onto the sessions, then please email the Sustainability team directly for team bookings; sustainability@hud.ac.uk

All staff are required to please seek their line managers permission to attend a session before making the booking. 

(Please note Participants will be confirmed on a first come first serve basis. All final bookings will be confirmed, in the event of low attendance, bookings may be cancelled, or an alternative session offered).
