Various venues on campus

The University will be hosting one of its biggest student events in February.Global Week 2023 offers a five-day programme for all students across the campus to join in with. The week, sponsored by the International Office, welcomes all students to participate or attend one of its many activities. These range from board games, fashion show, food & culture festival, sports, and enterprise. A full programme is available to download or contact the University’s Global Campus Events team for how you get involved.

The International Student Experience Manager, Alan Tobi, said; “It will be fantastic to see the campus alive throughout this week as Global Week always provides a positive vibe for all our students. It also provides opportunity to make new friends develop your skills and enhance your cultural awareness. It will be nice for people to bring their classmates, accommodation buddies and friends along to join in.”

Monday:

Enterprise Day: This event allows our students who are looking to develop their own businesses and ideas to showcase their work. It will be hosted by the University’s Enterprise Team who will be present for any questions from students who have business ideas of their own. Members of the Careers service will also be present as to will the Inter-cultural Society from the School of Education and Professional Development.

Tuesday:

World of Sports: Students will be representing their Schools while competing in four sporting activities to compete in badminton, basketball, table tennis and volleyball inside the University Sports Hall, hosted by Active Hudd.

Board games day: Simultaneously, University students will be hosting an event in the new events space, inside Student Central. You will have the opportunity to sit down and try some games from around the world.

Wednesday:

British Culture experience: Colleagues from the Students’ Union will be hosting a British Cultural day in the new events space, looking at traditional historical figures and sampling some local food.

Global Food & Culture Festival: The evening brings one of the biggest campus events alive, from 6pm, sponsored by the International Office. Students will be hosting tables allowing you to sample food from around the world. This is followed by two hours of cultural performances from our students on the Oastler building.

Thursday:

Fashion exchange: A day of Fashion as students host a event in the event space from 11.00am in Student Central building. You will have the chance to look at, discuss and even try on clothes from around the world. The event is hosted by students from the Events Management subject.

Global Fashion Show: This builds up to an already sold out event, at 6.00pm in the Oastler building. The annual fashion show allows our students to take to the stage in their traditional clothing.

Friday:

Futsal tournament: The second sports tournament takes place in the University Sports Hall, hosted by Active Hudd. The annual Futsal tournament allows students to compete and represent their School.

Global Tea Party: Simultaneously, this will be hosted by students from 11.00am in the new events space in Student Central, where you have the opportunity to sample tea from around the world for free.

All events are free and there is still time to register your interest if you wish to participate.
