Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observation on 20 November honouring the memory of of those whose lives have been lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
Join the LGBTQ+ Society, LGBT+ Network and LGBTQI+ Staff Network for a vigil on Saturday 20 November to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance. They will meet at 1.00pm at the rainbow crossing outside Joseph Priestley and walk to a space outside Oastler to have a vigil with a 2-minute silence. Following the vigil, there will be an option to go to Rhubarb for a social.
The Trans flag will be flown at half-mast outside St Paul’s to honor and remember those who lost their lives to violence.
The University and members of the LGBTQI+ Staff Network are working to progress trans inclusion in a number of ways. The University is a Stonewall Diversity Champion and participates in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index. The Workplace Equality Index is an external benchmarking tool for the University to measure its achievements and progress on lesbian, gay, bi and trans inclusion in the workplace.
