The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that starts on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Global 16 Days Campaign. To commemorate the anniversary, the Campaign will have an additional special theme focusing on femicide (the intentional killing of women or girls because they are female). The Global 16 Days Campaign website talks about moving from 16 days of activism to 365 days and taking the step from Awareness to Accountability.
To raise awareness, this year’s theme is ‘Orange the World: End Violence against Women NOW’. In support of this campaign, we will be lighting up the Oastler and surrounding buildings in orange throughout the 16 days of activism.
None in Three (Ni3) – University of Huddersfield
One in three women and girls is subject to physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. None in Three is a research centre for the global prevention of gender-based violence, dedicated to changing this reality.
A lot of research has been done in the area of gender-based violence, but Ni3 is notable in its emphasis on the prevention of such violence and its innovative approach of developing evidence-based anti-violence video games to use as educational tools. The Centre provides a home for researchers engaged in GBV prevention research as well as its current core projects: the GCRF and University of Huddersfield funded global Ni3 project (spanning the UK, Uganda, India and Jamaica) and the Ni3 Brazil project, Emilio, funded through the UNICEF End Violence Against Children Fund.
Follow the None in Three Research Centre on social media to be kept up-to-date with their progress.
