Optics Laboratory Refurbishment

Over the last few months, a major refurbishment of the Metrology Hub Optics Laboratory has been taking place. Led by Mathew Boon, Applications Engineer, over £50,000 has been spent on updating the laboratory equipment and improving the infrastructure of the laboratory area.

New state of the art instruments includes optical equipment, broadband lasers, optical tables, and ultra-fast cameras. Updated lighting, higher quality monitors and changes to the layout have made the lab more ergonomic, easier to use and increased capacity.  Additional storage means that equipment not in use can be put away creating more space for research staff and Ph.D. students to work on their projects at the same time.

The renovation and updates have created a vibrant, well-equipped lab ready to welcome more researchers and students to use the outstanding facilities.
