Huddersfield academic staff amongst the best qualified in the country

The latest figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) reflect the University of Huddersfield’s continued excellence in the quality and qualifications of its teaching staff.
It has 98 per cent of its staff holding higher degrees, the highest proportion amongst HE institutions in England with over 100 staff.
And at 96 per cent, the proportion of teaching staff holding teaching qualifications is also the highest in the country amongst comparable institutions.
The University also continues to perform outstandingly in the figures for academic staff holding a doctorate, with its proportion of 75 per cent bettered only by the universities of Oxford and Nottingham, and Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine.
The figures are part of the latest date release from HESA which covers the academic year that concluded in 2024.
Commenting on the latest HESA figures the University of Huddersfield’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tim Thornton, said: “These new official statistics demonstrate once again that University of Huddersfield colleagues are the best qualified in the country, across teaching, learning and research.”
