Students from the University of Huddersfield showcased their design skills for the Duchess of York on a recent visit to the campus.
The Duchess had put out a call for budding designers to come up with a logo for her ‘Collaborwriter’ project, where a pair of writers team up to pool their skills on new writing projects.
The brief to students was to produce a logo that captured the essence of collaborwriting in a simple, easy-to-understand format.
A dozen of the students who submitted designs met the Duchess in the Barbara Hepworth Building’s Create Lab, the state-of-the-art virtual reality and visualisation lab.
The Duchess picked out designs by Mohammed Ahmed and Alberto Wych for children’s and adult collaborwriter projects, but she kindly insisted that everyone present was a winner as she was so impressed with every design and the explanations behind them.
Mohammed studies product design, while Alberto is a graphic design student. Other students who responded to the Duchess’ call came from courses across the School of Arts and Humanities, including photography and contemporary arts and illustration.
