Huddersfield Physiotherapy Apprentice wins Rising Star Award

Congratulations to University of Huddersfield physiotherapy apprentice Rabia Sardar on winning the Rising Star Award at the Allied Health Professional Conference.
The Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership Allied Health Professional Conference brought together allied health professionals from across the Bradford and Craven areas. The conference explored topics such as: optimising health care, promoting diversity and inclusivity in leadership, social justice, anti-racism, environmental sustainability, research and innovation.
The conference finale was an awards ceremony recognising individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to healthcare within the area. Rabia, a second year physiotherapy apprentice, was awarded the Rising Star of the Year award. Currently employed by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Rabia was recognised for her personal development as an apprentice physiotherapist and her dedication to the role.
“I am incredibly proud and honoured to receive this award. The Physiotherapy Apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to progress in my role. I am passionate and committed to Physiotherapy as it can make a significant impact on patients’ lives. I am grateful that my team has recognised my hard work, and I could not have achieved this award without their support,” commented Rabia Sardar.

Rabia’s personal academic tutor and lecturer in physiotherapy at the University of Huddersfield, Josh Birtwistle commented, “this is a commendable achievement that is a testament to Rabia's hard work on the physiotherapy degree apprenticeship so far. Rabia has gone from strength to strength on the course and will no doubt play an integral part in the bright future of the physiotherapy profession.”
Rabia’s work-based mentor Liz Hahn commented, “Rabia started as a band 3 therapy assistant and has progressed onto the Physiotherapy Apprenticeship course. The Rising Star Award is in recognition of her personal development as an apprentice physiotherapist and dedication to the role. When Rabia is not on clinical placement, she is assessing community patients and using her clinical reasoning skills to develop patient specific treatment plans. Rabia is polite and caring, and always strives to get the best out of her patient to enable them to meet their goals. Rabia is a very valued member of our team.”
