A new analysis of one of Huddersfield’s most famous sons will be at the heart of the 2023 Harold Wilson Lecture at the University of Huddersfield on 23 November.

The Huddersfield-born former prime minister himself will be the subject of the lecture to be delivered by Nick Thomas-Symonds MP, who published his biography, ‘Harold Wilson – The Winner’, to great acclaim in 2022.

Wilson won four General Elections, spending around eight years at 10 Downing Street and is the only post-war leader of any party to serve as prime minister on two separate occasions.

Nick Thomas-Symonds will look at how he did it, what the cost to Wilson was and what lessons can be learned for the current political climate.

The lecture is free to attend and will start at 18:00 GMT in the Oastler Building on the university campus.

Tickets can be reserved via Eventbrite.
