Opening the doors for a third time on 21 February, Huddersfield Business School is excited to welcome a new round of businesses onto the programme where it will support them with leadership skills to help them accelerate their growth plans and boost business performance

MORE local businesses will reap the benefits of a management course designed and delivered by leading entrepreneurs and industry experts when it embarks with a brand-new cohort at Huddersfield Business School in February.

The Help to Grow Management programme, is available to senior managers in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who wish to enhance their abilities to lead the growth of their business. The programme supports businesses with leadership skills and aims to boost their business performance, resilience, and long-term growth in just 12 weeks.

“The course has been incredible for my development. It’s given me a proper understanding of how businesses function from start to finish.”

Opening the doors for a third time on Tuesday 21 February 2023, Huddersfield Business School is excited to welcome a new round of businesses onto the programme of which, because it is 90% funded by the Government, the fee to join the entire course is just £750.  Furthermore, for companies that employ more than ten people when two join from the same organisation, they receive a 50% discount on the second attendee.

Huddersfield Business School delivered its first Help to Grow programme at the end of April 2022 and following its initial success a second cohort commenced just a few months later.  The course aims to enhance business management and strategic capabilities, with the outcome being a growth plan for companies taking part.

Feedback from previous participants

Thomas Burwell, Head of Sales and Operations at BOSS Training Ltd, decided to participate in the second cohort to expand the business into new markets and diversify its offering.

“The course has been incredible for my development,” he said. “It’s given me a proper understanding of how businesses function from start to finish.”

Shellie O’Connor explained that she was in a very different role prior to becoming a Business Development Manager at Actiform and, as she didn’t have a lot of business experience, taking part in the course has been a huge confidence boost.

“I didn’t have experience in business before I started at Actiform, so Help to Grow has given me a crash course on the topic, and I now feel of real value to my team,” she said.

Organisations accepted onto February’s cohort can expect to take part in 12 course modules (online and face-to-face), starting with Strategy and Innovation and ending with Implementing Growth Plans. Other topics covered during the 12 weeks will include Digital Adoption, Building a Brand, Organisational Design, and Financial Management, to name a few.

In the video businesses from the first Help to Grow Management cohort share why they chose to take part in the course. They discuss how they found the course, what the tutors were like, what they learned, and how they were able to apply the content to their own businesses.

Dr Nicola Stenburg, Director of Executive Education at Huddersfield Business School said it had been a delight to witness so many organisations in the region develop their business acumen by completing the Help to Grow programme and she looks forward to welcoming a whole new group next month.

“When we asked the most recent cohort to evaluate their time on the course, it really highlighted to us why we deliver this programme,” said Dr Stenburg.

“Each of the 12 businesses reflected on their experience and they all agreed that the face-to-face workshops and online sessions were “extremely valuable” and the programme has given them the tools they need to go away and strengthen their growth plans that will drive tangible results for their business.

“Each individual has taken away something valuable from their time with us. We’ve already been made aware of participants from cohort two actioning their leanings and sharing them with their wider team,” she said.
