On the sad occasion of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the University thinks back to May 2007 when we were delighted to welcome Her Majesty and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh to the campus.
During the visit Her Majesty unveiled a foundation stone for the Creative Arts Building, since renamed as the Richard Steinitz Building.
At that time the University hosted a Civic Lunch in honour of Her Majesty and Prince Philip. They received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from staff and students and were escorted to the lunch by University Vice-Chancellor Professor Bob Cryan.
“We are deeply saddened by today’s news,” says Professor Cryan. “Her Majesty’s service and dedication to the nation were an example to us all. I send the heartfelt condolences of everyone at the University of Huddersfield to the Royal Family at this sad time.”
