Huddersfield Business School partner in India celebrates graduations

Graduation Day for the Class of 2021 Institute of Hotel Management – Aurangabad, India, (IHMA) was held on 27 May 2022. The graduation day was a success, with 108 of the graduating students receiving a University of Huddersfield BA(Hons) degree in Hotel Management - 61 graduates were awarded a BA(Hons) in Culinary Arts.

Huddersfield Business School’s partnership with the IHMA spans more than 25 years. The IHMA is part of the Taj Hotels Group - one of the leading luxury hotel groups in India and the world. IHMA is located on a major campus in Aurangabad, in the state of Maharashtra (of which Mumbai is the capital city).  

Professor Alistair Sambell, the University of Huddersfield’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), conferred the degrees while sharing his valedictory address. He said: “I was delighted to be able to participate in the graduation ceremony and to confer the degrees on behalf of the University. The event was a real celebration of the achievement of students who had completed their programmes despite the challenges of studying throughout the COVID pandemic."

We live in an era of ‘lifelong learning.’  As a graduate, you may feel that this is the end of your formal education and training, but do not fall into this trap. Look at your undergraduate degree as the next stage in your personal and professional development.  I am reminded of a well-known quotation by Mahatma Gandhi: ‘Live as if you were to die tomorrow.  Learn as if you were to live forever’.

Huddersfield Business School’s other collaborative teaching partnerships include Hong Kong Management Association, Sino-British College and the University of Huddersfield London Campus. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the School has continued to build its relationships with these partners through virtual interactions. Huddersfield Business School staff look forward to visiting the partners in person again in the near future.
