On Thursday 4th November, our Sports, Events, Hospitality and Travel and Tourism Management students visited Huddersfield Town Association Football Club, to see how the club operates from a business perspective. The football club founded in 1908, has a rich history including winning the English league title three years in a row! Students were made welcome at the John Smith’s Stadium, and given talks from the HTFC’s Marketing, Finance and External Engagement Directors, and from former player and Huddersfield Town legend Andy Booth, who is now an ambassador for the club.

“I enjoyed the trip; it was interesting to hear about the struggles and joys of keeping a stadium running. It was also lovely hearing from the director and ex-footballer as you could tell how passionate they are about their careers and how much it means to them to be in those positions. I thought some points spoken about things such as the importance of the social media fanbase and how ticketing works was relevant. Also, it was exciting actually being in the stadium by the pitch for the first time.” - Huddersfield Business School Student.

Thank you very much to Huddersfield Town Football Club for organising such an inspiring and informative day for our students.
