CMI HE Partner of the Year Award 2021

Huddersfield Business School is proud to have contributed to the University becoming The Chartered Management Institute’s Higher Education Partner of the Year 2021. The HE Partner of the Year is awarded to a Higher Education institution for outstanding positive impact on student experience, professional development and employability as a result of their partnership with the CMI.

In the past 20 years, Huddersfield Business School has developed a strong partnership with the CMI through hosting networking & guest-speaker events, and through providing students with the opportunity to earn professional qualifications alongside their degree. The CMI also funds annual prizes at graduation and in 2015 Huddersfield Business School became an official CMI Higher Education Partner.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) works with businesses and education providers to encourage individuals to become skilled and successful managers and leaders. The CMI’s work with Huddersfield Business School positively impacts the student experience through courses that are taught by academic staff, using CMI resources. Management programmes meet the professional standards of the CMI and enhance the employability of students through the development of key knowledge and skills, resulting in a CMI qualification that is recognised as a mark of quality amongst employers. Students and graduates also see the benefit of the Business School’s partnership with the CMI due to the Institute’s engagement with programmes such as Aspire and the Global Professional Award (GPA).

The Global Professional Award (GPA) was launched in 2020 for new students, and the structure of the award was designed cooperatively with CMI. The GPA is defined by three core themes: careers and employability, wellbeing, and enterprise. Students completing the GPA also receive the CMI Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management . The innovative programme is designed to enable students to begin their careers as confident and globally aware professionals and is taught by a specialist team to students across all academic schools at the University of Huddersfield. The GPA runs throughout the three years of a standard undergraduate degree programme and on successful completion of the programme, students gain a University of Huddersfield Global Professional Award and certification by the CMI.

The CMI’s partnership with the GPA ensures the programme delivers the most relevant and impactful content to prepare students as future leaders. One of Huddersfield Business School’s core objectives is to develop and enhance the management and leadership capabilities of students so they can positively contribute to organisations following graduation and have a valuable impact on society throughout their careers. Huddersfield Business School’s partnership with CMI is important to achieve these goals through management-related programmes which academic staff, professional service personnel and over 1000 students are a part of.
