Huddersfield Business School is delighted to have been awarded the Athena SWAN Bronze Award, in recognition of our commitment to progressing equality within the School.
Athena SWAN recognises the work that is undertaken in the advancements of gender equality. Originally focusing on STEM subjects, the charter was expanded in 2015 to include areas such as arts, humanities, social sciences, business and law. We join a small yet prestigious group as only a select group of other University Business Schools have achieved an Athena SWAN Bronze award.
Professor Jill Johnes, Dean of Huddersfield Business School said:
We have a genuine commitment to equality at Huddersfield Business School and I am proud this has been recognised with our Athena Swan Bronze award. We have worked hard to identify and to address challenges in different disciplines and will continue to take action to tackle barriers in progressing equality. I'd like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication to achieving our Athena Swan charter.
Huddersfield Business School has been committed to progressing equality, and established a team that meet regularly to guide action within the School, including representation from both academic and support staff. Developments have also been made within our approach to teaching and learning; as part of curriculum development, Huddersfield Business School has recently launched a new portfolio of postgraduate programmes in September 2019 that are benchmarked against the Sustainable Development Goals, including 'gender equality' and 'reducing inequalities.'
