THE tenth anniversary of the University of Huddersfield’s Global Food and Culture Festival was celebrated in style when different nationalities came together to showcase the diversity and array of cultures present among the University’s student population.
The Festival takes place twice a year and is one of the most highly-anticipated global campus events. The event is an opportunity for overseas and British students to integrate with one another, understand and celebrate cultural representation whilst gaining friendships.
Over 600 students attended the evening of festivities which included students having the choice of tasting over 30 global cuisines followed by an array of music, song, dance and poetry performances.
Among the many nationalities celebrating were students from Vietnam, Nigeria, South Korea, Cyprus, China, Lithuania, Thailand, India and many more, including those from the UK.
Through the annual event, long-lasting friendships and experiences are created and shared whilst students also gain a wider understanding of worldwide cultures.

The University has 20,000 students from over 120 different nationalities and is continuing to grow on an international scale, securing its reputation as one of the most popular universities in the world.
The Global Food and Culture Festival continues to grow and over the last decade has proved to be one of the most popular student events to take place on campus.
The University’s International Student Experience Manager Alan Tobi said the event supports the University’s global strategy and is a major contributor to the world-class student experience on offer at the University.
“The event demonstrates why we have been voted among the world’s top ten institutions for student experience,” said Alan Tobi, “and goes a long way to increasing the professional skillset of our students, promoting confidence whilst creating global awareness on campus.”
“I would personally like to thank our students for their continued extraordinary effort in always making this into such a special occasion,” he added.
Sponsored by the International Office, the Global Food and Culture Festival will be repeated in February next year when a whole week of global campus events are on offer for students to take part in for the annual celebration known as Global Week.
