You may be aware that the pop group Take That are to play a concert at John Smith's Stadium on Tuesday 4 June.  A crowd of 28,000 spectators are expected to attend and this is likely to cause significant traffic disruption before but particularly after the event.  There is expected to be a gradual build-up of the crowd attending the event throughout the day but although traffic will probably be heavier than usual particularly around rush hour, there are no plans to put in place any specific plans to facilitate traffic arriving at the event.  The concert will open at 5.00pm and is intended to end at approximately 10.30pm. This is expected to be the busiest time for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic as the spectators leave en bloc.

For the safety of all persons using this area at this time, the following roads will be closed:

  • Bradley Mills Road from its junction with Brownroyd Avenue, Rawthorpe to its junction with the entry to the Leeds Road Retail Park
  • St Andrew's Road from its junction with Thistle Street to Turnbridge Road
  • Gasworks Street from its junction with Leeds Road to its junction with St Andrew's Road

The Traffic Management Plan will be implemented from 9.30pm onwards by a qualified and experienced Traffic Management Company and the road closures will be put in place approximately one hour prior to the end of the concert, meaning that no vehicular traffic will be allowed to use these roads until the crowd has safely left the Stadium.
