New University Eco cups

Did you know we use 117,680 takeaway coffee cups at the University each year? That’s enough cups to reach the top of Schwann building over 300 times!

100,000,000,000 cups are sent to landfill each year in the UK because disposable cups are made from a combination of card and plastic which is difficult to recycle.

But you can help make a difference by using the University of Huddersfield’s new Eco cups. The reusable coffee cups are made from organic rice husk which is biodegradable at the end of the cup’s lifespan; plus they are microwavable and dishwasher safe.

By simply buying one of the new Eco cups for £5 in any of our campus cafes you can help reduce our environmental impact and save yourself money too. When you buy your cup you’ll receive your first hot drink for free (terms and conditions apply) and you’ll save 20p off your hot drinks and soups every time you use it.
