Friday 27 April is "On your Feet Britain Day" when workers across Britain unite together and participate in a variety of fun and simple activities to ‘Sit Less’ and ‘Move More’.  The On your Feet Britain Challenge dares you to convert sedentary time to moving time by following some simple changes such as:

  • Take regular breaks from your computer, stand up, stretch and walk around the office.
  • Make phone calls standing up.
  • Use the stairs instead of the lift.
  • Have standing or walking meetings.
  • Get everyone to move around with each new agenda item at a meeting.
  • Walk to speak to colleagues rather than sending internal emails. Be prepared that some people may have aged - depending on how long you’ve left it.
  • Organise a lunchtime walk. Walk to work, or get off the bus a few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way.

To celebrate On Your Feet Day, the official sponsor Sit-Stand.Com is very kindly offering 20 Free Yo-YoDesk® prizes to give away for the best "Get up offa that thing" photos posted on social media of you and your co-workers!

To enter simply post your photos on FacebookLinkedInInstagram or Twitter using #OYF18 or #OnYourFeetBritain with @getGBstanding before 30 April 30. The winners will be selected from the most imaginative, funny and original captions posted. Think different to stand out for the judging panel to see you capture the spirit and objectives of On Your Feet Day.

If you decide to take part in the challenge or enter the competition, don’t forget to let us know by emailing Occupational.Health@hud.ac.uk We may feature you in our upcoming Health and Wellbeing newsletter!
