Dr David Lee successfully defends thesis

Congratulations to Dr David Lee, who has successfully defended his thesis.

Dr Lee is one of five PhD graduates from the IIAA taking up a fellowship at CERN, one of the world’s premier research organisations. His research at CERN is in the field of radiation protection calculations, and his current work involves designing 3D computer simulation and Monte-Carlo based simulations to analyse radiation risks and improve radiation related safety. Through his research, he will be able to propose optimal safety ideas against nuclear radiation produced in experiments for everyone working at CERN experiment.

Dr Lee said; “I very much appreciate all those whom support and pray for me at the University of Huddersfield. My hard work at the university has brought me one step closer to my life goal which is to be a good scientist helping mankind and society.”  

CERN fellowships are highly competitive, and our graduates have secured these positions where graduates from Oxford, Manchester and Lancaster have failed. This is a testament both to the students and to the training and research they have undertaken here at Huddersfield, something we should all be very proud of.
