You must have received an unconditional offer before you can start the enrolment journey.
There are three stages of enrolment:
Stage 1 - Pre-enrol
Stage 2 - Immigration checks
Stage 3 - ID card collection
You need to complete all three stages of enrolment if you wish to be a student at the University.
Pre-enrolment is now open, this is where you will be asked to update your personal details for the University and upload a photo for your student campus card. You can only do this once you have received your Unconditional Offer from the University. You will be sent an email from the University with information on how to do this. If you do not have an unconditional offer you cannot pre-enrol.
Not received your stage 1 email yet?
Please check you have provided us with your correct email address, also check your junk/spam folder. If you do not receive an email, please check with your agent or regional office contact as they may have received the email on your behalf.
Having problems logging in to pre-enrol?
Within 24-hours of completing stage 1, you will receive a stage 2 email from a mailbox called international.updates@hud.ac.uk with some questions to complete your online immigration check form. Please only complete this form when you have arrived in the UK. Carefully answer all these questions and submit the form.
Once your answers have been checked, which can take up to three working days, you will then be sent a stage 2 email.
After you have received your stage 3 email you can collect your Student ID card from the International Office in Student Central building. You will need:
There will be further immigration checks, without these we cannot give you your Student ID card.
You will be enrolled online. Please look out for emails from 16 August on how to start your enrolment journey. You must make sure the University has your correct email address, which was given on your application form.
You will be enrolled online on 6 September 2021. Please look out for emails in late-August from the University to start your enrolment journey.
The three stages of enrolment:
Pre-enrol>Immigration checks>Enrol online
You must have received an unconditional offer before you start the enrolment journey.
How do I collect my Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)?
Once you have arrived in the UK, you will need to collect your BRP from the Post Office. You will find the address on the letter that confirms you have been granted a student visa.
If you are required to quarantine when you arrive in the UK, you must not collect your BRP until you have competed the mandatory 10 day isolation period. The UKVI understand this and you will not be penalised if you do not collect your BRP within 10 days of arrival in the UK. It is more important to complete the required period of self-isolation than to breach the quarantine rules and collect your BRP.
You will need your BRP to complete your enrolment at the University and will not be able to collect your campus card without your BRP. Please collect your BRP and have it with you when you come onto campus. You will also need a local address to complete your enrolment on campus.
Our on-campus induction and welcome week activities will go ahead without restrictions as will timetabled on-campus classes such as workshops, practical sessions, seminars and project work. All of this will be supported with online materials and tutorials.
Currently we expect all students and staff to wear a face mask on campus. We will continue to follow Government guidance about keeping the campus Covid-secure so our plans are of course subject to change, so please check these pages regularly for updates.
What coronavirus (COVID-19) testing and quarantine rules you need to follow depends on where you have been in the 10 days before you arrive. Find out what you need to do by reading the UK Government website.
The UK currently has a 'green list' and 'red list'. The rules for travel from countries and territories not on the red list will depend on your vaccination status. Read the latest international travel rules.
Find out which list your country is on
Before you arrive please read our orientation guide and self-isolation guide.
In August the Minister of State for Universities wrote a letter to international students. Please do take the time to read this.
If you are arriving in the UK from a red list country, you must follow the UK Government rules.
Check what COVID-19 tests you need to take and the quarantine rules for travel to England.
If you are due to start your course in January 2022, please check your emails from international.updates@hud.ac.uk for more advice and information.
We would like those of you who are still planning to travel to the UK for the January intake to continue to make your arrangements and work towards meeting the arrival deadlines for your programme.
If you’ve been in a red list country in the 10 days before you arrive in England, once you arrive you must:
You must follow these rules even if you’ve been fully vaccinated. If you break the quarantine rules you may face a penalty of up to £10,000 imposed by the UK Government.
We understand that this has a large impact on you financially, so to provide some support, the university will contribute £1,000 towards the cost of your quarantine package.
For those of you who have been issued your CAS, please continue with your visa application as planned. For those of you who are awaiting your CAS, please ensure that upon receipt, you make your visa appointment as soon as possible. It is important that your finances are still showing the required amount in your bank account for your living costs and outstanding tuition fees as is standard before making your visa application.
Teaching starts on 10 January 2022 and the enrolment deadline is 21 January 2022. Except for Business School students who must enrol before 28 January 2022.
We are offering advice and drop-in sessions to our applicants. You may wish to contact us to discuss your options at one of our drop in sessions.
The University will be closeed from 5pm on 22 December until 3 January 2022. We will not be able to respond to your queries during this time.
If your country moves to the red list after your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) has been issued, you can still come to the UK, however you must now quarantine for your first 10 days and you must stay in a managed quarantine hotel.
If you’re required to quarantine in a managed quarantine hotel you can only arrive in England at certain ports of entry. Currently these are:
Other ports of entry may be added in the future but please note that Manchester airport is not currently on the list.
Once you have quarantined for the required time, you will be expected to locate to Huddersfield in order to start your studies.
If you decide not to travel to the UK, please do not use your CAS, contact the International Office on international.office@hud.ac.uk and we will advise you on deferring your studies.
You must follow testing and quarantine rules as set out by the UK Government.
I’ve been vaccinated in my home country; can I be exempt from quarantine?
You need to ensure that the UK government recognise the vaccine you have received by checking the UK Government website. The University cannot advise on such medical matters. If you are required to quarantine, you must factor this time into your arrival plans so you are not late for the beginning of the term.
When your country moves off the Red List, we will contact you and start the process of issuing your CAS. If you have already enrolled online, you must be attending your online classes as failure to engage with your classes could result in the University refusing to issue you a CAS for your visa application.
It is also important to note that your country could move off the red list at any time and we will expect you to apply for your visa once this happens, so please ensure that you have the right funds available in your bank account for your maintenance requirement.
We are offering advice and drop-in sessions to our applicants. You may wish to contact us to discuss your options at one of our drop in sessions.
The new Graduate Route opened for applications on 1 July 2021.
If you are coming to the UK in 2022, you must be here by 6 April 2022 to be eligible.
It is important to note that this is a UK Government requirement and not something that can be negotiated, so please consider this when making a decision about your studies.
Find out more about the Graduate Route.
If you enrolled with the University in January 2022, you will be liable for a portion of the tuition fees, how much will depend on when you then withdraw.
If you don’t formally enrol, your fees may be carried over to the next intake, subject to the University’s full terms and conditions.
We want to keep you safe whilst on our campus. You can find important information on our campus safety measures for Covid-19 by watching the safety videos we have made.
All adults aged 18 or over in England are now eligible to book their Covid-19 vaccination appointments. Students registered with a GP can book appointments at a location that is convenient to them through the National Booking Service website or by phoning 119. Registering with a GP is encouraged to access the vaccine, but individuals can request to book appointments as an unregistered patient through a local GP practice.
NHS England’s newly published Covid-19 vaccination FAQs for students in higher education institutions confirms that all international students in the UK are eligible to receive a free vaccination in the UK. The guidance provides further information on how students can access the vaccine, including what to do if they have already received a first dose outside of England.
If you are living in Huddersfield, it is easy to register with the University Health Centre by completing an online registration form. You can also use the NHS GP Finder website to find a doctors' practice close to you (you will need to search by postcode).
Pre-enrolment is where you will be asked to update your personal details for the University and upload a photo for your student campus card. Before we can enrol you, you will need to complete pre-enrolment online. You can only do this once you have received your Unconditional Offer from the University and the portal has opened. If you do not have an unconditional offer you cannot pre-enrol.
You must complete all three steps of pre-enrolment once you have received your unconditional offer.
You will be sent an email with a link to the University’s pre-enrolment portal closer to your start date and when the enrolment portal opens. Please make sure we have your correct email address.
We may not have got your personal email address. Also check your junk/spam folder. If not, check with your agent or regional office contact if they have received the email on your behalf.
Username: This is your student number, for example u1234567.
Password: This is your date of birth (use this format 19feb98). This is case sensitive.
Step 1: It is essential that you upload a head and shoulder photo of yourself in jpeg format for your student ID card. Without this you cannot be enrolled at the University
Step 2: ‘My details’ - You must update your term-time address (if you will be in the UK in January use your UK address, if you will be arriving later use your home address for now) and personal details including your email address and mobile number. This step may take several minutes so please make sure you answer as much as you can and go through to the end.
Step 3: Click on this step and read ‘Information for international students’ section – that’s it.
Watch our video to help you complete pre-enrolment.
Within 24-hours you will receive an email from the University’s immigration team from a mailbox called: international.updates@hud.ac.uk with some questions. Please carefully answer all these questions and submit it as soon as possible. You will then be enrolled online and emailed to confim your enrolment.
These terms and conditions apply to the University Quarantine Support Fund for the January 2022 intake only.
If you are an international student currently residing in a “red list” country that requires paid quarantine hotel accommodation and are enrolling on a degree in January 2022, you may be eligible to apply for a £1,000 contribution to your quarantine fees, subject to the below criteria.
Failure to provide any of the required information or meet any of the above criteria could result in your application to the Fund being rejected.
We recommend that your dependants apply for a visa at the same time as you as it makes it easier to establish an on-going family relationship. If your visa applications are successful, you will all receive a visa with the same start and end dates. You will all receive a visa vignette, which will be give you a 90-day window in which to enter the UK.
As the main applicant, you should aim to be in the UK at least ten days before your course starts so that you can complete your ten-day period in a quarantine hotel. However, we understand that quarantine accommodation for all of your family members may be difficult to find and may not be appropriate for small children. In these circumstances, family members can arrive separately to you but your dependants should arrive in the UK within the 90 period of your vignette. Please remember that unless you are a sole carer for your children, both parents need to be in the UK together if you have children who will be your dependants in the UK.
It is important to note that quarantine costs are high and all children over the age of 5 need to be paid for, so please factor this in when you are doing your planning as these funds need to be separate to your maintenance costs which you provide with your visa application.
The most recent UKVI Covid concession confirms that you will still be able to apply for the Graduate Route as long as you are in the UK by 6 April 2022. The rules state that you must have completed your programme within the period of your student leave. This means that your results must have been finalised and your award agreed, but you do not have to have had your graduation ceremony.
If you are late arriving and this means that you miss some of your studies and need to repeat some assignments, you should be aware that this could lead to a delay in the final award being made. As such, we urge you to make arrangements to come to the UK as soon as you can to avoid missing any of your studies so you can complete your degree in good time to apply for the Graduate Route.
