Register with the Health Centre

We recommend that you register with the University Health Centre if you're going to be living in student or private accommodation within a three mile radius of the University campus. Registration is quick and easy. Visit the Health Centre Registration webpage and follow the instructions for pre-registration. You could complete one of the following steps to speed up the registration process:

• Complete both pages of the pre-registration form and submit it. This will not register you fully with the Health Centre but will speed up your registration when you attend.
• Download and complete the registration pack, then bring this along to your registration slot scheduled by your department as part of your induction. If your department hasn't identified a specific registration slot as part of your induction, just call into the Health Centre at any time during the week (9.00am-4.00pm) to register.

Out of area registrations

If you live out of the practice area but study or work within a three mile radius of the University campus you’re able to register. As you’ll be registering as an 'out of area' patient, this means that if you were sick at home we wouldn't be able to offer you a home visit. However, there are systems and processes in place whereby you can access urgent care closer to your home address.

What is ReFreshers’?

15 January is when the fun begins!

Whether you’re interested in live music, partying in town, getting loads of freebies and free food, meeting all of our Sports Clubs and Societies, or you’re just looking for an excuse to get out there with your flat-mates and experience Huddersfield for the first time – ReFreshers’ 2018 has something for everyone.

Our usual events such as HudCrawl, HudMovies and Campus Tea Party will return along-side a whole host of surprises.

Keep your eyes peeled for more info and tickets which will be available from our website in early January.

What is Freshers'?

Hosted every year by the Students' Union, Freshers' Festival is a week of activities and events designed to introduce you to student life. Freshers' week takes place in the beginning of the September term and is action-packed with events including Freshers' fair, live music events and comedy nights.

With a whole host of ways to get involved, Freshers' week gives you the chance to get to know your fellow students, make new friends and find out what the Students' Union has to offer – all while familiarising yourself with both the town and the University.

There are loads of events throughout the week including Freshers' fair, where you can meet the clubs and societies, the hilarious HudComedy show and HudCrawl (the official Freshers' bar crawl and the biggest night out of the year!).

In the past few years the Students' Union have played host to Sigma, DJ Fresh and Radio 1's Mistajam and Huw Stephens. Also, at the end of the week there is a HudLive event – a mini outdoor festival featuring some cool headline acts.

Moving in to your accommodation

Look out for emails from your accommodation provider as they’ll give detailed instructions on what time to arrive, where to park and where to unload.
