Founded in 1836, the Huddersfield Choral Society has developed an international reputation as one of the UK's leading choral societies. The Society's busy schedule is centred on its own subscription concert season in Huddersfield Town Hall, including its annual performances of Handel's Messiah. The choir also performs in other major concert venues in the UK and abroad, it regularly broadcasts for BBC radio and television, and has a long history of pioneering recordings.
The Choral Society enjoys a strong relationship with the University of Huddersfield. We are delighted to be able to offer a number of Choral Scholarships to interested students. Successful applicants will work closely with the Choral Society in preparing for and participating in concerts. You will gain a broad experience working with top class orchestras, conductors and soloists in a variety of venues. Scholars will have an opportunity to learn from a range of choral trainers led by our Choral Director, Greg Batsleer. Membership subscription is free in the first year and thereafter you will be eligible for our student membership rate.
