Welcome to the Law School
The Law School continues to go from strength to strength and offers a range of attractive and innovative undergraduate, professional and postgraduate courses which equip students for a wide range of potential employment including of course the legal profession
The Law School has an experienced and professional staff team involved in the delivery of its courses across undergraduate postgraduate taught, postgraduate research and professional levels. Our staff have a wide range of experience gained both in the academic sphere and in legal practice with over half of the total number of staff being professionally qualified either as solicitors or barristers. Many of our staff are engaged in external examining and other external duties extending the reach and reputation of the school. Staff are also research active within the law research group which is headed by the Professor in Law and by our Reader in Human Rights.
The School has a unique student centred Legal Advice Clinic which is located in the town centre of Huddersfield and gives students the opportunity to research real life legal issues and give advice to members of the public
Our Undergraduate degrees also include an optional placement year which increases experience and is a useful aid to employability on graduation.

We also operate a mentoring scheme which teams up students with a professional working in practice to provide insights into working in law.
The Law School also has an annual Social Justice Lecture which is given by a leading figure in the law, past speakers include Nick Fluck the Law Society President and Michael Mansfield QC.
All our Undergraduate degrees are qualifying law degrees for the purposes of the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Members of Law School staff are researching in many fields including Jurisprudence concentrating on law and morality, Immigration, child protection including the rights of the refugee child and the systems to protect them and clinical legal education. We have a small but tightly focused group of research students who are integrated into the work of the school.
Our departments draw on the expertise of staff with national and international reputations for their research, teaching and professional engagement.
We offer courses at undergraduate, masters and doctoral level.
