Learning Disability Nurses in Research - Making Research a Reality
We were delighted to host the latest event in our webinar series showcasing nurse-led research in collaboration with NHS England.
The event was opened by the School's Acting Head of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr Warren Gillibrand and co-chaired by Amanda McKie (@MckieAmanda), Consultant Nurse in Learning Disability, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and Sam Abdulla (@samabdulla ), Lecturer in Learning/Intellectual Disability Nursing, Edinburgh Napier University.
Three experienced learning disability nurse researchers then explored gaps in our knowledge and the methods they are using to address these. Each presenter shared and analysed the early findings from their work in order to stimulate discussion on the implications for practice, service delivery, education, workforce development and well-being, and patient experience. The webinar ended with a Q&A in which the presenters answered questions posed by the audience and offered their advice on nurse-led research.
