Department of Initial Teacher Education
The department offers programmes in primary and secondary education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Our lifelong learning programme is one of the largest for teacher education in the sector and is one of only nine designated Centres of Excellence for Teacher Training in the lifelong learning sector in the UK.
It runs a full-time pre-service and a part-time in-service CertEd/PGCE/PgDipE in Lifelong Learning through the Education and Training Consortium, which was established in 2001.
The Consortium has over 20 regional partners and provides Initial Teacher Training and continuing professional development.
