Welcome Week content creator employment opportunity

Please complete this form if you are interested in working for the University of Huddersfield's Marketing Team on a one-off project to create video content about your fresher's experience. 

The role includes capturing images and video footage taken during your first two weeks at the University of Huddersfield. This content will be used on the University's social media profiles, website and marketing materials delivered by the University.

Terms and Conditions

  1. This employment opportunity is being run by the University of Huddersfield, Queensgate, Huddersfield, HD1 3DH. 
  2. The employment opportunity is eligible to UK undergraduate students joining the University of Huddersfield for their first year of study in September 2024. Entrants must be over 18. In applying for this work opportunity, you confirm that you are eligible to do so. 
  3. Two first year students will be selected for this project. One student who commutes from the local area to the University and one student who has moved to Huddersfield to study.
  4. To apply to be considered for this work opportunity you need to complete an online application form by 10am on Tuesday September 10 2024.
  5. Entries will be received by the University of Huddersfield’s social media and marketing teams. 
  6. The University will choose the successful students based on content on their Instagram/TikTok account and answers provided on their application form. 
  7. Students completing the application form will need to follow the University's Central Instagram account @huddersfielduni, and allow the University’s Central Instagram account to follow your account(s). The University will ‘unfollow’ your account by 6pm on Friday September 20, 2024 
  8. Successful students will be notified via the email address they applied with by 6pm on Tuesday September 10 2024. You will be contacted by socialmediareps@hud.ac.uk  
  9. Successful candidates will need to accept the role by 10am on Thursday September 12 2024. 
  10. Students will be asked to supply a mixture of images and video content, suitable for use on the University's social media channels which may include Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube; as well as for use on the University's website hud.ac.uk. This content includes, but is not limited to images and videos in both 9:16 (portrait) ratio and 16:9 (landscape) ratio. 
  11. Students will be supplied with a brief and guidance from the University's social content media team about the type of Welcome Week content to capture. 
  12. The University’s social media and marketing teams will make the final decision on what content is used. 
  13. Students will be paid even if the content is not used.  
  14. Students will be expected to use their own phone or camera to create the content.
  15. The content must be supplied to the University's central social media team by email or saved in a shared Teams folder by 9am on Monday 30 September 2024. 
  16. The students will be paid for this work at a rate of £12 per hour, up to a maximum of 15 hours. 
  17. Students will be paid via the University's HR payroll. To be added to the University’s payroll, you must provide the necessary documentation including a completed paperwork and passport, so we can undertake ‘Right to Work’ checks, when requested. 
  18. You will be paid no later than November 21, 2024 for this work – subject to you supplying the relevant HR documentation when requested.  
  19. By completing the application form, you are giving your consent for identifiable images and videos of you to be used on the University’s social media channels, website, email communications and other marketing materials. You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing socialmediareps@hud.ac.uk.
  20. If third parties are featured in your content, they must have given their consent via an online form. The details of how to do this will be provided before filming /photography commences.
  21. All content supplied will become the property of The University of Huddersfield.
  22. The University will not be liable for any damage, loss or disappointment suffered by any person taking part or not being able to enter.
  23. The University reserves the right to amend these rules at any time. It is the responsibility of entrants to keep themselves informed of any changes to these rules.
  24. Completion of the application form implies acceptance of these terms.
