Welcome to the Legal Advice Clinic
The Legal Advice Clinic (LAC) is a student-led project offering free assistance to those who otherwise would have no access to legal help.
Huddersfield Business School is committed to working within the local community to help provide a bridge between those who do not qualify for legal aid and those who cannot afford legal advice themselves.
By offering legal advice at the Legal Advice Clinic, our law students have the opportunity to get hands-on legal experience within an environment that encourages and supports an ethical approach to legal practice.
Our students are supported by a qualified Academic Team and are absolutely dedicated to providing the very best service for the local community.
Areas of Law
The Clinic covers a variety of areas including:
- Family
- Contract
- Landlord & Tenant
- Wills & Probate
- Employment
- Property
- Civil Litigation & Personal Injury
We cannot deal with legal issues relating to immigration, criminal or debt matters. Nor can we deal with matters relating directly to the University of Huddersfield.
How it works

Student Advisor Appointments
For clients who want more in-depth advice, the clinic offers personal appointments with our student advisors. Working under academic supervision, our advisors meet with the client to discuss their issue.

Solicitor Sessions
Each week during term-time, the clinic invites practicing solicitors to run a session around specific areas of law. Members of the public can book a 30-minute appointment to discuss their issue and receive free legal advice there and then.
