We are committed to recognising and celebrating the continued hard work and dedication of our staff members. Find out more about our competitive rates of pay, defined pension schemes and long service awards below.
Pay Scales
We offer competitive rates of pay, which include annual incremental pay progression, up to the grade maximum.
We are a member of the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) national negotiating framework for annual pay awards, providing for a yearly review of salary rates at a national level to ensure rates are consistent with peer institutions.
We are also a Living Wage accredited employer and our pay scales are aligned to the real living wage rate. You can find out more about the real living wage and how it is calculated on the Living Wage Foundation website.
You can also find out more about your pay and our salary scales from this page on our website.

Pensions
Our occupational pension schemes provide a valuable benefit to our staff members.
We provide the following three defined pension schemes, which all include a guaranteed income in retirement, as well as life assurance and protection for your family.

Teachers Pension Scheme (TPS)
TPS is operated by Capita plc on behalf of the Department for Children, Schools & Families (DCSF). Membership is available to full time, fractional and part time hourly paid academic staff and entry to the Scheme is automatic unless and individual opts out.

West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF)
The WYPF is run in accordance with the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). Membership is available to non-teaching staff and those not otherwise eligible for the TPS. Entry is automatic for all full time and fractional staff unless they opt out.

Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS)
The USS membership is only available to new academic and senior staff who commence employment with the University after 1 April 2003 and transfer from an existing USS institution with a break in service of less than one calendar month.
Long Service Awards
We value the dedication of our staff and recognise those who reach 15, 25, or 35 years of continuous service with a special award. Itโs our way of saying thank you for your loyalty and lasting contribution to the University.
