We pride ourselves on having a research-intensive learning environment. Most recently, the University has been rated Gold in all three aspects of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023. We were the only university in Yorkshire and the Humber and the North West to achieve Gold ratings in all three aspects of the TEF among those announced in September 2023.
The school currently supports 2,200 students, of which 390 are studying at master’s level and 190 for a PhD. We currently employ 180 academic staff, 90% have PhDs and 85% have a teaching qualification. 60 Professional Services staff support the activities across the school.
We are immensely proud of our graduates, many of whom come from our region and go on to work with top engineering, technology, and computing companies across the UK and beyond. We are ambitious about the future, our staff, our students, our alumni, and the world around us.
Our School has a diverse community and is committed to Athena SWAN principles and the promotion of equality and diversity and is proud to hold a Bronze Athena SWAN Award.
