On Thursday 21st September 2023, representatives of the Team attended the annual BICSc (British Institute of Cleaning Science) Awards at the Forest of Arden Hotel in Birmingham. Beating off stiff competition, we won the prestigious award for Excellence in Training and Assessment UK.
The University was accredited to deliver BICSc training and assessment in 2016 when the team committed to delivering the nationally recognised BICSc License to Practice to every Cleaner. To maintain their accreditation the Cleaners also have to be reassessed every 3 years meaning it’s a significant task for the in-house assessors Mick Hall, Assistant Cleaning Services Manager and Cleaning Coordinators, Kay Booth, Colin Arundel and Anita Binns to deliver.
Sam Harding, Cleaning Services Manager says, “The team have worked immensely hard over the past year to ensure all our cleaning operatives have achieved and maintained their License to Practice training, providing the essential skills required for their role as well as key information around health and safety and best practice methodologies. I’m incredibly proud of them and this is a fantastic achievement. It’s amazing to lead a team who have such pride in their work and strive to provide a clean and safe environment across campus".
