This page offers a useful guide to your course fees, and how you can pay them.
Distance learning taught course fees
The tuition fees for our taught distance learning courses vary according to the programme. Please see individual course pages to find out the fees for online courses at Huddersfield for the current academic year.
If you're interested in studying a research distance learning degree, please see our tuition fees for research degrees for more information.
Payment options
You can pay your fees in one of the following ways:
- Pay your course fee in full when you enrol.
- Pay in instalments: you can pay for your course in instalments, per academic year of study. This means your course fee is divided between the years of study. Payment schedule examples are below.
- Payment in termly instalments using your UK government postgraduate loan. Payment instalments are set by the Student Finance Office and align with postgraduate loan payments.
(Payment by instalments is not available to students joining a course via our Performance Based Admissions (PBA) entry route or students in receipt of employer sponsorship).

For example, if you are starting a two-year, part-time degree in September and your total course fee is £10,000, you would pay £5000 per academic year. The first instalment, which is paid when you enrol, would be £2,500. The second instalment of £2,500 would be due before 31 January. These two instalments would be repeated in your second year.
Ad-hoc payments can also be made, providing you keep to the payment deadlines stated in the above table.
Please note, if you pay in yearly instalments, your tuition fee may increase after the first year of study, rising in line with inflation (RPI-X).
How to pay your fees
You can either pay the fees yourself, provide us with evidence that your fees (in part or in full) will be paid by a sponsor, or paid by a Postgraduate Student Loan.
Self-funded
Our preferred method of payment is through Flywire, where both credit/debit card and bank transfer
You can pay online through our secure Payment Gateway using a credit or debit card. If you are an international student, please follow this link. This information will be detailed in your enrolment email.
If you are new to Flywire, here's a helpful step-by-step guide on making a payment.
Payment from an employer or sponsor
If you are sponsored by your employer, we require confirmation from your sponsor/employer that they are happy to fund your tuition fees. This can be provided by email to sfo@hud.ac.uk, and should include the following details:
- Student Name
- Student Number
- Amount of sponsorship
- Address to which invoice should be sent
- Email address to which invoice should be sent
- Purchase Order Number, if required
If you are being partially sponsored, you will need to either pay your contribution of the fee in full, or set up a payment arrangement, with the first payment being made on the pre-enrolment portal using a credit/debit card and the remaining instalments being taken by recurring card payments.
This sponsor must be one which we recognise as acceptable, for example, your employer, or your government embassy.
Employers will be invoiced for the appropriate fee as soon as possible and the invoice will be payable within 28 days of the invoice date. We regret that we are unable to allow employers to pay in instalments.

Goods and Services Tax for international students
To comply with legislative changes surrounding goods and services tax on digital services, the University of Huddersfield is working with relevant tax authorities across the globe to establish Goods and Services Tax responsibilities. Once there is clarity on the status of each country, this webpage will be updated.
To date, the University has not finalised costs or compliance with any country. When the cost and compliance for the Goods and Services Tax for each country has been finalised, you will be made aware of this charge at the point of an offer being made. This charge will only be applied to future cohorts and will not be retrospectively applied to students who are already enrolled onto an existing programme.
