One of our dedicated Support Co-ordinators, specifically trained to work with care leavers and vulnerable adults, will meet you before the academic year begins to discuss any concerns or worries that you may have and answer any questions. We also offer a number of online resources. The Careers and Employability resource hub, MyCareer, is a home to the JobShop, where you can access hundreds of vacancies from organisations that want Huddersfield's students and graduates. MyCareerPlus features useful tools such as an interview simulator, help with psychometric tests, assessment centres and a number of employer videos, providing a valuable insight into employers' perspective on key aspects of what they're looking for.
MyCareer Resource Hub is an online resource for graduate opportunities and information about different industry sectors, allowing you to search for opportunities based on what your area of interest is and to gain sector-specific information. Throughout your time at the University, Computing and Library Services will make sure you have access to all the resources you need to take your degree to the next level.
We provide high quality and customer-focused services, having held the Government Customer Service Excellence ® standard for many years. Our National Student Survey results show a high level of satisfaction with the library and computing facilities at the University.
IT Support provides and maintains access to the University’s computing, Wi-Fi and printing facilities, and online resources such as the University's virtual learning environment, student email, electronic library resources and more.
IT support is available through the Help Centre, based in the Library, and via a telephone helpline.
Training on using various software, hardware and assistive technology is also available for all students, through workshops or one-to-one support.
The Library has an extensive range of information available including books, journals, e-books and online resources to support your studies. They also lend out laptops.
Open every day during term time, and with most of its resources available to access online from wherever you are, the Library is always there to support your learning.
Help is available during normal working hours at our Help Desk and online guidance is always available via HudHelp.

The Faith Centre is home to the Community Lounge - a vibrant, busy, welcoming space where you can meet new friends and enjoy free tea and coffee. It’s is a great place to explore and discuss spiritual issues with like-minded individuals. We have a range of worship, prayer and ablution facilities on campus. You can also take part in interfaith events or request a prayer from our chaplains. There are prayer rooms for all faiths, which can be used for individual and group prayer or faith group meetings.

Here at Huddersfield, we help current students and graduates prepare for self-employment, freelancing and starting their own business. Taking the first step towards running your own business can seem like a real challenge. We're here to support you right from the beginning to help you grow your seed of an idea into a successful business.
Our Enterprise Team supports students and graduates to set up businesses and to meet other like-minded peers during their degree or after they graduate. They are based in the Enterprise Hub - a fantastic modern facility for start-ups housed in the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre. The centre offers free hot desk office facilities, one to one business advice and support, and a range of business facilities such as landline telephones and bookable meeting pods.
When it comes to choosing a placement while you are studying at undergraduate level, the conventional route is not your only option. If you think you've got what it takes, you could choose to set up and run your own business during an Enterprise Placement Year.
The University also offers a range of enterprise-focused degrees and one to one and group support to help students develop their ideas into successful businesses ventures.
The Enterprise Team will support you when starting your own business by providing business advice and support, funding opportunities and office facilities. Its series of Enterprise Events is an ideal starting point for those who want to increase their enterprise awareness. These events offer advice on writing a business plan, researching the market, developing a brand and essential networking skills. The Team will work with you to help you make a success of your business.
Following an initial chat with a Business Advisor you can apply for on-going support and access to the Enterprise Team’s services through Enterprise Support. Enterprise Support is open to UK/EU current students of the University and graduates within five years of graduation who have viable business or self-employment propositions and can evidence high commitment and enthusiasm for their business idea.

One of the first things you'll need to do when you arrive on campus is register with an NHS general practice. There's one right next door on the University campus, so if you live within three miles of the University that could be ideal. You'll find doctors, nurses and physios on hand to help. They can give you advice on everything including sexual health, contraception, sports injuries, rehabilitation, travel vaccines, relaxation and stress.

We welcome students returning to Higher Education after doing something else in life or have had change in personal circumstances before returning to studying. In fact, 63% of Huddersfield students are aged 21 or over (HESA 2015/16). We have plenty of experience and resources to help you decide on your course, look at entry routes into Higher Education, explore ways to enhance your career prospects and support you with the application process.
If it's been a while since you left the education system, we have lots of ways to help you get back into the swing of studying. If you don't have the formal qualifications required for degree-level study, you can enrol for an extended degree of either four or five years, which includes a foundation year. You don't have to choose your degree course until you've completed your foundation year.

Studying when you have a family is a rewarding experience – there’s no doubt that you’ll be very busy, and it might seem like a huge challenge, but you certainly won’t be the only one juggling university and home life. We have a number of students parents who have decided to study with us.
Caring for children can be expensive but don’t let this prevent you from going to university especially as there are a number of schemes that can help you. The Government offers a number of different options for financial support for parents in Higher Education including Childcare Grant, Parents' Learning Allowance and help with paying for childcare.

We offer assistance and help with academic development for students at the University through personal Academic Skills Tutors.
The Academic Skills tutors will help you find your feet in those first few weeks and to develop the skills you need to succeed whatever challenges you face throughout your course. They will help you improve your academic writing style, structure your work appropriately, construct arguments, gain confidence in referencing, finding and evaluating information, or in preparing for exams.
